Migrate WhatsApp Number from Other Provider

Switching your WhatsApp Business API provider doesn’t mean you have to lose your existing number or customer chats. With the official WhatsApp Number Migration process, businesses can smoothly transfer their registered number from one provider to another without downtime.

Whether you want to move for better pricing, advanced features, or reliable support, number migration ensures your business stays connected with customers while upgrading to a new platform.

What is WhatsApp Number Migration?

WhatsApp Number Migration is a process that allows businesses to transfer their existing phone number from one WhatsApp Business Solution Provider (BSP) to another.

This ensures:

  • No need to change your existing WhatsApp number.
  • No disruption in customer conversations.
  • Business continuity with the new provider.

Migrate WhatsApp Number from Other Provider

You can migrate your business phone numbers from other solution providers to Chat ON Desk.

Step 1: Disable Two-Step Verification

Use the WhatsApp Manager to disable two-step verification on your business phone number (or to ask your current Solution Provider to disable it for you).

You cannot complete the remaining steps until two-step verification is disabled.

Step 2: Begin Embedded Signup

Begin the whatsapp onboarding via Chat ON Desk dashboard and enter your business phone number and its display name when prompted for them in the flow. When you complete the flow, the system will generate your new WABA and associate it with your Meta Business Account.

Step 3: Approve Migration in Business Manager
A migration request will appear in your Facebook Business Manager.
Approve it to continue the process.

Step 4: Complete Registration with Chat ON Desk

Once approved, your number will be linked to Chat ON Desk as the new WhatsApp Business Solution Provider.
At this stage, downtime begins and lasts until Meta completes template duplication.

What Gets Retained During Migration

In addition to keeping the registered phone number, businesses can retain:

  • Display Name
  • Quality Rating
  • Official Business Account Status
  • Messaging Limits

Billing

  • Messages sent before migration is complete are charged to the old Solution Partner.
  • Undelivered messages sent before migration will also be billed to the old provider if delivered later.
  • Messages sent after migration is complete are charged to Chat ON Desk.

Downtime

  • Downtime does not begin until you perform the final registration step.
  • Until then, the business phone number can send and receive messages without interruption.
  • Once registration is performed, downtime begins and lasts until Meta completes template duplication.
  • After this, the number can again be used to send and receive messages under the new WABA.
